“Look who is behind
bars now.” Wicker teased at the captured Chase behind bars in the
detention facility.
“You little prick!”
Chase stood up and kicked at the steel bars.
“Pirates like you
eventually get captured. It's the way of the life.” Wicker took a
step back to keep his distance.
“Who's in charge here?
I demand an audience.” Chase shouted as he looked at his other
mates locked up in their cells.
“Warden Moxness.”
Matthew hollered from his cell as he stuck his hand out to point at a
muscular Caucasian man sitting in his office.
“Matthew! It's so good
to see that you are alive.” Chase nearly burst into tears of joy.
“Yes, they are
treating me well.” Matthew shouted back.
“You are lucky NB has
its ethics and values set out by Charlie...I would have starved you.”
Wicker snickered.
“You bastard. Unlock
this cell now and we can fight man to man!” Chase clenched his
fists.
“Enough!” a shout
was heard down the hall.
“Commodore Moxness,
sir.” Wicker stood to attention and saluted the man.
“Excuse us Wicker.”
Moxness asked politely as he pulled out his electric wand from his
utility belt.
“Sir.” Wicker
acknowledged and walked out of the detention cells.
“I heard you demanded
me?” Moxness tapped his wand at Chase's bars and zapped it.
“Yes. I have valuable
intelligence I would like to share in exchange for my crew's
release.” Chase took a step back from the electrified bars.
“Or I could force the
info out of you right now?” Moxness laughed heartily.
“There's a new ship
out there in the space that can annihilate anything in its path. Even
if you get the info and kill me right now, nothing would not prevent
an uprising that will take out all those who oppose the VEGA
Corporation.” Chase sat down on his bed.
“What makes you think
that we don't already know of these ships?” Moxness questioned with
a cold stare.
“You do?” Chase
raised an eyebrow in disbelief.
“We have sources.”
Moxness tapped the bars as tiny sparks flew.
“Well have your
sources told you about their death rays?” Chase countered.
“Death rays?”
Moxness looked slightly amused by the pirate's tales.
“Weapons that fire a
stream of hard light eating anything in its path.” Chase used hand
gestures to magnify the intensity of the new weapon his crew had
encountered.
“Ok...I'm listening.”
Moxness placed his electric wand back onto his belt and pulled a
chair in front of Chase's cell.
