VC Chapter 7-Turning Tides

Sector 1400
Planet 1401
January 16, 2052

“Get us out of here!” Chase watched as the Exodus cruiser sped towards them.
Wicker was tossed into the bridge with his hands tied behind his back with Matthew holding him in place with a gun pointed at his head.
“Sir, we got him.” Matthew said proudly.
“Take off his helmet.” Chase cracked his knuckles.
Matthew removed Wicker's helmet and saw a young white male with dark hair who looked too young to achieve the rank of Captain.
“Your friends are here. Tell them to call off the attack.” Chase pulled Wicker's hair in exasperation.
“It's too late pirate.” Wicker said in a calm composure.
“Haha, you are right.” Chase slammed his fist into the side of Wicker's face.
“Sir, the NB ship is closing.” a pirate notified his busy captain.
“Put me through to the NB ship. I want them to see a live execution of Mr. Wicker.” Chase kicked his hostage in the chest.
Wicker coughed heavily as blood trickled down from his bruised cheek. He looked at Chase and then spat on his shiny boots.
“You little snob!” Chase shoved Wicker down to the ground and began to kick his body.
As Matthew and his other mates struggled to control their out-of-control captain, Wicker had managed to cut the ropes binding him with a hidden blade equipped on his battle suit. In a split second, Wicker was free and lunged at the unwary Matthew from behind and removed his pistol from his belt pointing it to the man's head.
“Don't move.” Wicker locked Matthew's head in his arms as he pointed the gun.
The pirates on the bridge all their their heads to watch their captured comrade and aimed their guns.
“Drop your weapons or I blow his brains out.” Wicker barked as he slowly backed his way out of the bridge.
“Do as he says.” Chase lowered his weapon not wanting to lose one of this best friends.
Slowly and carefully, Wicker backed out into the ship hall and noticed an escape pod. He dragged Matthew inside with him and sealed the airlock.
“What are you doing?” Matthew watched as the door was sealed shut from the main ship.
“Shut it.” Wicker bashed the butt of the pistol into the back of Matthew's head knocking him out cold as he dashed for the command console to eject.
A loud bang was heard as the pod got launched out into space while the Exodus continued to pursue the Genesis cruiser. Wicker watched as the Exodus fired a round of polaron ray and hit the Genesis's thrusters. The blueish shield took some damage and some of the energy passed through scorching the outer hull. Before the next round of polaron rays could charge up and fire, space had begun to warp around the Genesis and it made its daring escape from the powerful Exodus cruiser.

“At least I'm out of this mess.” Wicker breathed relief as he began to contact the NB ship.
