VC Chapter 15-New Contracts

Sector 1400
Planet 1411
January 22, 2052

Commander Yale looked in the mirror as he splashed cold water to his face. His failure in capturing Preez had resulted in him being assigned to lighter roles for the corporation. Now he had to accompany an OmniPotent corporation businessman to Tachyon Industries to see if the VEGA's researches can be installed into their battleships.
“Commander, we have arrived.” an officer with the rankings of Lieutenant knocked on his bathroom door.
“Good Lieutenant. I'll be there shortly.” Yale combed his hair in an organized manner.
Meanwhile at the ship dock at Tachyon Industries, a Genesis cruiser docked in the facility and shut off its engines. A squad of armoured soldiers stepped out escorting a big Caucasian man dressed in a formal attire carrying a black briefcase locked to his wrist.
“Follow me Mr. De Waal.” the leader soldier prompted the businessman as he walked to an access panel.
“Is there a need for so much security?” De Waal placed his sunglasses onto his dark brown hair as he eyed the combat turrets around the facility.
“It's a protection of VEGA assets.” Yale responded from behind as he was accompanied by three of his officers.
“What's so valuable that it needs to be protected?” De Waal walked with Yale as they reached the testing room inside the facility.
“This is why you are here and the business we would like to do with you.” Yale waved the guards to lock the entrance as a glass room lit up beside them.
“This is the thermal beam weapon...a prototype in the making.” Yale pointed at a sleek looking weapon mounted in the centre of the room.
“What does it do?” De Waal looked amused.
“Watch.” Yale ordered one of the lab technicians to operate the gun.
The back pane of glass opened up to reveal a thick orangish armour that appeared to be of iridium composite. The gun turned and began to charge up with a muffled hum as it targeted the piece of armour. Then, a stream of intense bright light beamed onto the armour and pierced a hole through it in a matter of seconds.
“Amazing!” De Waal clapped.
“Imagine four of these loaded onto your company's Rancor production line.” Yale smiled at the pleased businessman.
“Let's get to business then.” De Waal sat down on the table and unlocked his briefcase.
Before any deal was drafted, a loud blaring alarmed sounded across the facility.
“Warning, perimeter intrusion detected!” the alarmed announced.
“What is this?” De Waal quickly shut his briefcase and locked it as his security team formed a circle around him.
“We'll take care of it.” Yale looked at one of his officer and nodded.
“Sir, follow me!” the officer waved at De Waal to follow him down a set of stairs.

As De Waal and his team went downstairs, Yale looked at the security cameras on his datapad to locate the intrusion alarm. A fleet of Exodus cruisers was headed towards the facility in a very fast speed with the words “NB Gaven” painted on its port side.
